Math and Spanish placement

Math: Students will be placed based on their current math class and grade as well as admissions test results. You will receive placement information in an email from Sue Belcher.  If you have questions, you can follow up directly with our math and computational thinking teacher, Ananya Rabeya (ananya.rabeya@downtownschoolseattle.org). For an alternate math placement we require a formal placement test, to be taken on Wednesday, Aug. 9 or Monday Aug. 20.

Spanish: Students will be placed in Spanish 1 or 2 based on their current language class and grade. If this doesn't give enough information for placement, Spanish teacher Lupe Fisch will coordinate to schedule a brief conversation in Spanish.

New student orientation

The student orientation for our founding classes will take place on Wed., Aug. 29 from  3–5 p.m. Students will meet their advisors, get their schedules and their laptops, and participate in ice breaker activities to get to know one another. The orientation will be followed by a potluck dinner for families from 5–7 p.m.

Please bring a dish that feeds four to six people. Based on the first initial of your student's last name, please contribute:
A–G: salad/appetizer
H–M: main dish
N–S: fruit/dessert
T–Z: beverages
We will provide plates, cups, napkins, and utensils.
